Obituary of Bryan Kirkpatrick
Strength in numbers couldn't compete with the strength of Bryan Kirkpatrick, 55.
On Wednesday, August 31, Breezely, as he was called, personified strength and courage and was called home to heaven.
Bryan married Tracey Leahy on November 26, 1983 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Survived by his wife of 32-years, and his children Timothy and Thomas, Bryan set a foundation of strength, wisdom, leadership and courage for his family. They relied on him for their courage, they thrived in their own lives using his wisdom and they became beacons of strength in their lives using his standard of leadership.
His impact on lives is evident, when you talk to anyone who has encountered him in his almost 21-years of sobriety.
20-years of medical ailments, including a heart-transplant in 2002, never kept him down. His son, Thomas, was in an accident leaving him quadriplegic and through years of trials Bryan never lost his faith in God or his spirit of perseverance. His wife, Tracey, suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury after crashing her motorcycle and Bryan shined brightest in her hour of need. His son, Timothy, is a victim of circumstance from these hardships and Bryan gave him wisdom and guidance with the tools to go through life as a proud man.
These people are a family of triumph, not misfortune and Bryan would never let you see it any other way- he is the foundation that other people build their foundations on.
Bryan got his tools, so to speak, from MC Kirkpatrick and Bernard T. Kirkpatrick, who raised a family of eight children in Poughkeepsie, New York in a close knit neighborhood.
Religion was taught in his home and he attended Catholic school at Holy Trinity and attended Overlook and Arlington High School as well. The values he learned from religion rang true throughout his life and remain a building block to his attitude. He regularly attended Saint Mary's church in Poughkeepsie, where his wife lectures and resides in two choirs. His face will be missed but not forgotten.
Words aren't good enough to explain my dad, he wore his heart on his sleeve and walked the walk in times of chaos and nothing can describe him well enough other than, I got to see him do it.
He is loved by sisters, Kay Pecchia, Terrie Cruger, Jayne Kelly, late sister Carol Kirkpatrick, Amy Cibelli and Jonni Nash, brother Michael Kirkpatrick and in-laws Henry Cibelli, Brian Nash, and the late Gino Pecchia and Tom Cruger. Nieces, nephews and friends alike will value your life forever.
We love you dad.
