Obituary of John Soltes

John E. Soltes, 91, of Highland, NY passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born on November 15, 1924 in Zvolen Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Soltes. John had been a local resident since 2008 and was previously of Dublin, Ohio. John had served in the United States Army in the 11th Airborne Division and he received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Pratt University. John married Jean Alice Beckett in Beverley Hills, CA and she predeceased him. He had worked in sales for the OM Scott Company in Marysville, Ohio. John was a past member of the Kiwanis Club and he loved to golf and fly, receiving his pilot's license at the age of 70. Surviving John are his children; Lillian Lewis and her husband Exaviar of Salem, OR, John G. Soltes of Highland, NY, Christopher Soltes and his wife Sharon of Rocky River, Ohio and Richard Soltes and his wife Dorthea of Dallas, TX. Also surviving are his grandchildren Jenna Darling, Garner Soltes, Sarah Soltes, Gregory Soltes and Emily Soltes, as well as his great-grandchildren Emma Lynn Darling and Madeline Rose Darling. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 4:00-6:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
