Obituary of Margaret Beck

On the afternoon on October 10, 2016 Margaret (Marge) Beck passed away after complications from heart surgery. Marge was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on October 16, 1942 and was the third of eight children of Walter and Margaret Bunten of Poughkeepsie. Marge graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 and served as a tireless and dedicated nurse for over 40 years, beloved by patients and coworkers alike. Her support of women's health, ob-gyn nursing and IVF nursing was a long-term passion and focus of her nursing career. She lived and worked most of her life in Poughkeepsie until moving to Virginia then Massachusetts to be closer to her grandchildren. Marge is survived by her children: her daughter Ann Beck, her son and daughter-in-law John Beck and Tracy Alexander, her son Thomas Beck and her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Jeffrey Bishop. The highlight of her life was her seven grandchildren Kelsey, Nathaniel, Isabel, McKenzie, Abigail, Emily and Megan. Marge is also survived by her seven brothers and sisters, Mabel Mackey, Walter (and Linda) Bunten, Michael (and Susie) Bunten, Donna (and Steve) Hodos, Loretta (and Martin) Terry, Peter (and Laura) Bunten and Shirley Bunten as well as many, many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews all whom were very much loved. Viewing hours will be Sunday, October 16th from 2pm to 6 PM at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home at 371 Hooker Ave in Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17th at 10:00AM at St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie. In keeping with her dedication to women's health needs, Marge has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the Nurses' Health Study at www.nurseshealthstudy.org.
