To Maribel, Drake and Hali,
My deepest condolences for your loss. I wish I had been able to be there for the memorial service. Marshall was such a kind and loving man. I really cherish the time I spent with him during my URSI program at Vassar (I graduated in '97). I had the fortune of working/spending time with Maribel and Drake (although he was very young; a toddler I think). Marshall taught me so much that summer, not just about the science, but about kindness and patience. His enthusiasm was infectious. I think about that experience to this day, and am so grateful for it. I now have a redhead of my own, who is enamored with diving and sea creatures, so I often refer back to my experiences with Marshall. I am very lucky to have learned from him. I am sending positive thoughts and energy to your family at this difficult time.
