Obituary of Patricia S. Barton

Patricia S. Barton, a long time resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Wingate of Dutchess in Fishkill. She was a young 83. Daughter of the late Ralph and Dolores Porter, Patricia was born on March 31, 1933 at Vassar Hospital. Predeceased by her two sons, Timothy Jr and Allen, her parents, her step-grandchild Ricky Plass, her ex-husband Timothy C. Barton, her brother Ralph "Sonny" Porter, her sister Dorothy Meisner and her significant other George O'Dell. Patricia was the eldest of her siblings and is survived by her sister, Joan Porter. In addition to her sister, Patricia is survived by her daughter, Gale Barton, her step-children Karen Esquilin and Kelli Lowe; her grandchildren Kevan Barton and his wife, Celina Miranda, Rayna Torres and her husband William Torres and Brice Derello; her step-grandchildren Chasity, Linda, Alisha and Deanna as well as her great-grandchildren Reanna Torres, Dayvien Torres and Maya Barton. In addition, she is survived by several step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Feisty, witty and fun-loving, Patricia loved her family and her pets, Charlie and Groucho. Patricia worked for the Grand Union Supermarket for 35 years where she made a family of friends. She especially enjoyed her weekly breakfasts at The Big Tomato with her co-worker and friend, Annie Critchley. Her favorite past-times included drinking a beer with her long-time pal, Jeannie, listening to "Oldies But Goodies" on the radio and never missing an episode of Law & Order. Patricia was always there for family in times of need or just to give a good laugh. She will be missed by everyone. A special thank you to Billy Gayle Jones for having coffee and rolls with "Ma", to Otelia Garrett for always visiting and making her laugh; and, to Melony Taylor for brightening up her day by painting her nails. Thank you to the staff at the Wingate Nursing Home for your kindness and your caring for Patricia over the past 5 years. The family will receive friends who wish to pay their respects on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 10am - 1pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home located at 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
