Obituary of Barbara A. Vonderau

Barbara Ann Vonderau, 67, of LaGrange, NY passed away on Saturday, December 3 after a brave battle with breast cancer. She was born July 28, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. Barbara loved her time as a YWCA preschool teacher and Girl Scout Program Director, where she was a fearless advocate and friend to children and young women. She was devoted to her family and nothing made her happier than being a grandma and cheering for Cleveland sports teams with her family. Cancer may have taken her from us, but there is no doubt that she beat cancer by living life to the fullest. To know her was to love her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Bernice Sundermeier, her husband Martin Vonderau, Sr. and her sister, Carol Habstritt (Richard). Barbara will live on through her children, Lori Vanatsky, Julie Raylor (Glynn) and Marty Vonderau (Lauren), grandchildren Allison, Emily & Jack Vanatsky, Kaitlyn, Nick and Lauren Raylor and Myla Vonderau, her brother Ken Sundermeier and sisters Elaine Vining (Mike) and Harriet Sundermeier. Visitation will be held on Weds. December. 7, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie with a Memorial Service from 7:30-8pm.
