Obituary of William R. Manfredi Jr.
William R. Manfredi, Jr., age 83, of Poughkeepsie, died Monday, February 6, 2017 at home in Poughkeepsie peacefully with his family at his side. Bill was born September 30, 1933 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is the son of the late William R. and the late Carmela (Salamone) Manfredi Sr. Bill married Mary Ann Gullo on October 21, 1956 at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church.
Bill served in the Army National Guard Reserves as a Master Sergeant . He was the owner with his wife Mary of the William Manfredi Construction Corporation in Poughkeepsie and built many projects in the Tri- County area from 1971 until his retirement in 1995. Bill and his wife also were the previous owners of the Sandpiper Hotel in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.
Bill was a member of Poughkeepsie Elk's BPOE 275, Italian Center, Town of Poughkeepsie Lions Club and the American Legion Post 1302. Bill was one of the founding members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Pop Warner Football Program. He was a past Pop Warner Football Coach and Town of Poughkeepsie Little League Coach. Bill also loved to golf, travel, fish and enjoyed woodworking .
He is survived by his wife: Mary Ann Manfredi of Poughkeepsie, his two sons and daughter in-laws William R. Manfredi III and Shari of Lagrangeville, Joseph Manfredi Sr. and Robin of Poughkeepsie, his daughter and son in-law Parris Brokaw and Keith of Lagrange, his twelve grandchildren Brittany, Tarren, Dylan, Jared, Joseph Jr., Jessica, Adam, James, Savannah, Alley, Lindsey and Keith. Bill is also survived by his 9 great grandchildren and his brother and sister in-law Louis and Kay Manfreda.
Bill was predeceased by his brother, John Manfreda.
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, New York.
