Obituary of Frank John Majewski
Frank John Majewski, 96 passed away Friday May 5, 2017. He was born February 27, 1921 in Newark, NJ. to the late Andrew and Mary (Gorski) Majewski. He married Helen Ann Krzywicki on January 28, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Danbury, CT. Helen predeceased him May 22, 2013.
He graduated from the King's Point Merchant Marine Academy in 1944. He served with distinction in the North Atlantic on Convoy duty. After the war, he made many trips to the Mediterranean Sea. After his service, he worked in construction for several years. He then began his career in shipping, working for the United Fruit Company as a Chief Engineer traveling around the world until 1971. He then began a new career as a Power Plant Engineer for Nassau County, retiring in 1986. Frank and Helen like to travel and spent many years "wintering" in Florida. He also enjoyed the monthly luncheon reunions with his Merchant Marine buddies.
He is survived by his step-sister Olga Pels and daughter MaryAnn of Medford, MA., sister in-law Carmela Rubelsky of Scottsdale, Az., sister in-law Jeanette Dziminowicz and husband Alexander of Poughkeepsie., nieces Janina Hart and husband Richard of Poughkeepsie, NY., Mary Jean Fereday of Danbury, CT., Mary Ann Smythe and Husband Brad of Shelton, CT., nephews Michael Dziminowicz and wife Estela of Lawndale, CA. and David Dziminowicz and his wife Beth of Boyton Beach, FL.
The family wishes to thank all of his caregivers, especially Brenda and Glenda, as well as his wonderful friends Gerri, Scott, Ed and Marie for all their help and support over the years. Frank will be missed by all.
A graveside service will be held 11:30am Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury, CT. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
