Rosario " Sal " Mauro

Hyde Park - Rosario S. "Sal" Mauro, 83, of Hyde Park, NY passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at home. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on June 18, 1933, he was the son of the late Nunzio and Louise Padavano Mauro. Sal attended Poughkeepsie Schools and served in the US Navy on the USS Eversole. On June 27, 1954 he married Vincenza M. Notarnicola at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and she survives him at home. Sal worked as a Mason for Local 44 and also worked at Poughkeepsie Concrete Inc., retiring in 1996. Sal was a member of St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie, the Italian Center and the American Legion Post 1302. He was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed watching his NY Giants. In addition to his wife, Sal is survived by his son and his domestic partner Sal Anthony Mauro and Jeanne Dorrea of Hyde Park, NY and his daughter and son-in-law Nicole Marie and Anthony Legname of Rhinebeck, NY. Sal is also survived his grandson Caleb Mauro of Hyde Park, as well as his 2 great-grandchildren Cassady Isabel Simmons and Emma Lynn Mauro. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Danielle Mauro and his sister and brother-in-law Mary and John Sorci. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Services with a Military Service will be held at 11:45am during visitation and burial is private and at the convenience of the Family.
