Obituary of Russell E. Wise

Russell E. Wise, age 86, of Poughkeepsie, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at home in Poughkeepsie.  Russell was born March 16, 1931 in Auburn, NY. He is the son of the late Russell E. and the late Helen (Driscoll) Wise Sr..  He married Kathryn Dale Schmitz on July 21, 1955 at Auburn, NY At Holy Family Church. 

He was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie as a Acoustical Physicist retiring in 1990.

Russell was a local resident since 1962, he received his Bachelors Degree from Lemoyne College. Russell served in the United States Army Reserves for 35 years, and he was a member of the Arlington Rotary.

Russell was very active with the Adult Education program in Poughkeepsie. He loved to read and enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons and daughter in-laws Gregory and Kathleen Wise of Poughkeepsie, NY., David and Elizabeth Wise of Hyde Park, NY., his daughter and son in-law Margaret and John Boeckel of Orlando, Fl, and his six grandchildren, Alexander, Christopher, Connor, Jennifer, Sarah and Kevin.

Russell was also predeceased by his wife Kathryn on May 9, 1991 and his son Mark on July 8, 1984.

Calling hours will be Monday, June 19, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
