Obituary of Dorothy M. Devine

Dorothy M. Devine, age 81, of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Lutheran Care Center of Poughkeepsie, NY. Mrs. Devine was born June 1, 1936 in Scranton, PA. She is the daughter of the late Stanley and the late Mary (Shiner) Rothka. She married John J. Devine on July 4, 1959 at Scranton PA. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Devine on October 24, 2001. A local resident since 1960. She was a Graduate of Westside High School. Dorothy loved her Polish Heritage. Always enjoyed going to see Jimmy Sturr and dance to his Polka Music. Dorothy had a kind heart and always had a open door to anyone who knew her. Dorothy always had her German Shepards By Her side. She is survived by two sons: Robert J. Devine of Poughkeepsie, NY and Scott And Colleen Devine of Pleasant Valley, NY,; Sister of one sister: Marlene Whatley of Mt. Cobb, PA and two brothers: Joseph Rothka of Scranton, PA and Edward Rothka of Rotunda West,; Niece, Donna O'Malley of Mt. Cobb, PA; Companion, Jack Durham of Newburgh, NY. Predeceased by her Brother, Stanley Rothka. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY with officiating. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie on at . Funeral Arrangements are being handled by the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY.
