Obituary of Joan M Post

Joan M. Post of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at The Pines of Poughkeepsie.  A lifelong resident, Joan was born on October 25, 1929 to the late Wallace and Catherine Layman Schaffer.  In September 1951 she married Robert John Post, Sr., at Holy Trinity Church and he predeceased her in July 1971.  Joan received her degree in nursing and was an RN for Vassar Brothers Hospital and the Wassaic Psychiatric Center, retiring in 2002.  Joan is survived by her children; daughter and son-in-law Christine and Michael Perkins of Caroga Lake, NY, son and daughter-in-law Robert J. and Marla Post, Jr., of Poughkeepsie and son Steven Post of Pleasant Valley, NY.  Also surviving are her 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her sister Barbara Murphy of Sharon, CT.  In addition to her husband, Joan was predeceased by two sons; David Post and Thomas Post.  There are no calling hours.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the Family.  To send online condolences, please visit our website at www.doylefuneralhome.com
