Obituary of Piacentina Taglienti

Piacentina Taglienti (né Nardozi) died peacefully on October 27, 2017 in Poughkeepsie, NY at the age of 92.

She was born on February 22, 1925 in Monte San Giovanni Campano, Italy, a daughter to parents Francesco Nardozi and Maria Casagrande. She married Arcangelo Taglienti in September of 1942 and they had four children before immigrating to Jamaica, Queens, NY in March of 1962 on the Italian Line ship “Leonardo da Vinci”.  

She was an avid knitter and loved to make homemade gnocchi for her family.

Piacentina was preceded in death by her husband Arcangelo Taglienti; her daughter Margaret DeSa; her grandson Anthony Taglienti; and her step-children Filomena Nardozi and Lorenzo Taglienti.

Surviving are her daughter Santina Capoccia and her husband Luciano of Schenectady, NY; her son Antonio Taglienti of Lady Lakes, FL; her son Tullio Taglienti and his wife Debbie of Farmingville, NY; her son-in-law Joseph DeSa of Poughkeepsie, NY; her step-daughter Gina Chiarlitti of Westbury, NY; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017, 3:00-7:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10:00am at Saint Kateri Church,1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, NY followed by entombment in Saint John Cemetary, Queens, NY.
