Obituary of Earle S. " Rusty " Bunn

Rusty passed away peacefully at home with him family by his side on November 30, 2017.

Born in Poughkeepsie on January 25, 1940, he was the son of the late John H. Bunn and Elizabeth F. Rightmyer.  Rusty graduated from Poughkeepsie High School Class of 1958.

On February 4, 1962 he married Dorothy Ingraham at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie. 

Rusty was a Lieutenant for the Arlington Fire Department and retired after 22 years of service.  He loved being a firefighter and EMT.  He was always willing to help others and did so even when it was not in the line of duty.

He was a life member of the Rochdale Fire Company and served as a Lieutenant.  He was also a life member of the Exempt Firemen's Association.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and past president of the Senior Golf League of College Hill.

Rusty's greatest joy was his family and spending time with his sons Jon and David and grandsons Michael and Jeff.  He loved playing golf, especially with his son David.

He is survived by his love wife Dottie of 55 years, his sons Jon of Mendam, NJ and David of Pleasant Valley, his two grandsons Michael of Maryland and Jeff of New Jersey and his sister-in-law Barbara Jordan of Poughkeepsie.  He is also survived by his niece Lisa Carroll and her husband Edward, his niece Cara Macari and her husband Jerry and the apple of his eye his great-niece Jordan Grace Macari.  He is also survived by his nephew Joseph Kowalski.  He was predeceased by his sister Jackie Kowalski and nephew Kevin Kowalski.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dutchess County SPCA and his favorite charity St. Jude's Research Hospital for Children.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 5, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.  The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday December 6, 2017 10am in the Funeral Home and Burial will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
