Obituary of Louis J Manfreda

Louis J. W. Manfreda, 87, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  Born in Poughkeepsie on December 6, 1930 he was the son of the late William and the late Carmela Salamone Manfredi.  Louis was a 1950 graduate of Roosevelt High School and he served during the Korean War in the United States Marines.  On May 18, 1957, Louis married Kathryn A. Mund in St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie and she survives him at home.  Louis had worked for Shatz Federal Bearing, National Micronetics in Kingston and was a past Town of Poughkeepsie police officer.  He attended Mt. Alvernia, where he was an usher, he loved ball games, enjoyed playing poker, was an avid Yankee fan and he had coached Little League in the Town of Poughkeepsie.  Louis had also played football at Roosevelt where he was a star quarterback and his number was retired.  He was also a member of the Town of Poughkeepsie Senior Citizens and past JR Chamber of Commerce.  In addition to his wife Kathryn, Louis is survived by his children; Gail Mott and companion Carl Runowich of Montgomery, NY, Allison and Andrew Lawson of Buffalo, NY, Carolyn Haines of Beacon, NY and Debra Colurciello of Highland, NY.  Also surviving are his grandchildren Bradley, Christopher, Sean, Daniel, Bryan, Grace, Kylie, Leah and Mitchell and son- in-law Frederick Haines of Fishkill and several nieces and nephews.  Louis was predeceased by his brothers William Manfredi and John Manfreda.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 3:30 - 7:30pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, 11:00am at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie.  Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery with Military Honors.  If desired, donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.  To send online condolences, please visit our website at www.doylefuneralhome.com
