Obituary of James Alexander

James E. Alexander, 78 of Millbrook, NY passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY. James was born on August 16, 1939 in Camden, SC to the late Fred and Annie Mae Teams Alexander. He married Patricia H. Hopkins on December 1, 1960 in Camden, SC and resides at home.

A local resident, James was a Horseman with Thorndale Stables in Millbrook, NY and recently retired in 2017. He moved to Millbrook in 1962 where he worked at various jobs with local stables. His love of horses was his life's work and also barbecuing was his joy and he had a real following with his grill.

In addition to his wife Patricia, James is survived by two daughters Jamie Alexander of Manhattan, NY and Debbie Long of Poughkeepsie, NY, nieces and nephews Regina Johnson, Donna Jackson, Stacey Cummings, Tamara Long, Zariah Haskins, Lois Belton, Kelly, Gwen and Cassie Banks, Ronnie, Scott (Leanne), Steve (Lee Ann) and David (Gina) Jackson, Andy Green, Darnell Cummings and Gerrit Dodge, grandsons Devon and Drew Jackson, granddaughters Kate Jackson, and her brother Trey Teamer, Sisters-in-law Linda (James) Hill of Garland, NC and Paula Alexander of Canton, NC and friends especially the Thorne family, Jonathan "Doc" and Eliza "Kid" as well as the Bontecou children and the Fresne children John and David. James was predeceased by his daughter Lisa Alexander, brother, Fred Alexander and sister Margaret Alexander.

There are no calling hours. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10.00 am at Lyall Memorial Federated Church, 30 Maple Avenue, Millbrook, NY 12545.
