Obituary of Kenneth John Stout

Kenneth J. Stout, 78, of Poughkeepsie, NY, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on January 24, 2018 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on July 19, 1939, the son of Clifford and Margaret Stout. He graduated from Lincoln High School (1957), Wisconsin Rapids, WI and soon thereafter joined the Navy. While in the Navy he was a member of a flight crew that flew between Midway Island and the Aleutian Islands as part of Airborne Early Warning Barrier Squadron Pacific.

He was a graduate of Milwaukee School of Engineering and Marist College.

Ken was an engineer at GE before joining IBM in 1964, where he worked in both Kingston and Poughkeepsie until his retirement in1994. He also worked at Indian Point following his IBM retirement.

Ken was a member of Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Men’s group and volunteered at Second Hand Rose.

His interests were in model railroading and ham radio. He was an avid reader and had a great love for the Hudson River. He was an Eagle Scout.

Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa Terwilliger (Dale) of New Paltz, NY and Lynn Stout of Beacon, NY; his former wife, Edith Stout of Poughkeepsie; sisters, Sue Johnson and Sally Joosten ; brothers, Gary Stout and Don Stout ; several nieces and nephews all from Wisconsin Rapids. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Arlene Capek.

Visitation will be held Monday January 29, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society of the Hudson Valley in Ken Stout’s name.
