Obituary of Marilynn Edmonds

PLEASANT VALLEY - Marilynn E. Edmonds, a lifelong area resident, passed away suddenly and unexpected, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at home. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on April 16, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Mildred “Nana” Whispell.  Marilynn married the love of her life, Robert I. Edmonds, Sr. on September 15, 1957.  He predeceased her on June 13, 2012.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl and Ed Sheehan, Sandra and James Duffy, Bobbi Edmonds and Rob Storms all of Pleasant Valley, and Robert (RJ) and Patti Edmonds, and Leah and Heather of Stanfordville; grandchildren Mark and Jennifer Sheehan, Daniel Sheehan, James Duffy, Michael Duffy and fiancé Kaitlin, Danielle Albrecht and David Albrecht; great-grandchildren Nora, Lennox, and Daxton Sheehan, and Jaxson. Marilynn is survived by her brothers Neil Whispell, Gail Whispell, and Richard Whispell, nephews and nieces, and neighbors. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Marilynn Edmonds, and her sister, Sandra Fratz.

After raising her family, Marilynn worked for many years at Caldor, Poughkeepsie, and in local doctors’ offices. She often spoke of the numerous friendships of her co-workers over the years. She was an avid bingo player, and an avid reader, particularly of her favorite author, James Patterson. She was fond of all the friendships she made at Tuesday night bingo.

She placed love of family first, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a heart of gold and seemed to have a friend everywhere she went. She will be deeply missed!

Calling hours will take place Monday, February 19, 2018 from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M., at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10 A.M., in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery Hyde Park, NY.
