William R. Steinhaus posted a condolence

Jim and I met many decades ago in the 80's while we were both volunteering with United Way. Just like all the other organizations he involved himself with, he was a dedicated helper and always eager to lend his expertise and knowledge to the task at hand serving on various committees and providing guidance to all. He always offered common sense and logic with a notable compassion and heart. Over the years I always looked for him when I visited Sears and typically he was easy to find -- and had his usual warm smile and hello and then we'd chat for awhile and catch up on conversation topics of the day. Our paths didn't cross the past couple of years but his friendship and kindness will always be remembered. God Bless to Jim and his family. William R. Steinhaus, Dutchess County Executive, 1992-2011 - retired.

Dear Lynn and Jim's family,
I am deeply saddened at the loss of Jim, a true gentleman and fellow SCORE mentor who will be really missed.
My wife, Vasanti, and I are glad we sat next to Jim and shared our evening with him at the SCORE Holiday party, last December.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. May The Good Lord grant his soul eternal rest and your family the fortitude to bear this grievous loss.
In sympathy,
Ramesh Mirchandani.

I am with a heavy heart today to hear about the passing of my good friend Jimmie. We spent many a good day at Central HS and the U together laughing and talking about just plain stuff. Please accept my condolences for the loss of a great American. May God be with him forever and that the family remain well.

No matter what the age, it seems as if the people we love are stolen from us. I found that the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Cherish the memories and think happy memories. It will put a smile on your face and warmth in your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
