Obituary of Earl William " Duffy " Farrier
Earl William "Duffy" Farrier of Pleasant Valley, NY passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at home. Born on March 1, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of the late Earl Joseph and late Florence Plass Farrier. Duffy had served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. He had worked for Fitchett Brothers Dairy as a milk man and was the shop steward for the company and after Duffy retired he worked at the Town of Poughkeepsie Highway Department.
Duffy was a member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge #275 for 49 years, where he also worked, served as Trustee, was the House Committee Chair for many years, was on the Committee and Chair of Country Western night and was Elk of the Year. He is also a Life Member of Arlington Engine Company #1 and a member of the American Legion Post 1302.
Duffy is survived by his companion, Kandee Shafer at home, his daughter and son-in-law Kim and Thom of Wallkill, NY, son and daughter-in-law Earl "Billy" and Lara Farrier of Poughkeepsie, daughter and son-in-law Renee and Tom of Carmel, NY and daughter and son-in-law Beth and Bret of St. Joseph, MO. Also surviving are his sister and brother-in-law Judith and Walter Cooper of GA, sister-in-law Nettie Farrier and his grandchildren; Corey, Alicia, Cody, Marco, Haley, Alex, and Cameron. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Duffy was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Clifford Farrier.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 4:00-8:00pm, with an Elks Service at 6:30pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 10:30am at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum.
