Obituary of Jacob J. Ciancio
Jacob J. Ciancio, 97, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. John’s Providence Park Hospital in Novi. His wife Helen of 69 years and son, Steven both of whom predeceased Jake. He leaves his oldest son Larry and wife, Wanda of Novi, MI., a sister, Eda Conte, Tucson, Arizona, wife to Steven, Lorna Ciancio, Clifton Park, NY, eight Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren and many close friends.
Born June 10, 1920 and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, the son of Luigi and Carmela Ciancio also of Poughkeepsie, NY. Jacob moved to Novi, MI on August 15, 2015 to be with his son, Larry and family.
In the earlier years Jake was an avid bowler however, due to back complications was forced to retire from bowling with regret. He was employed by Western Printing Lithographing Company and retired after 41 years. He was President of the Western Keyman’s Club, President of the Western Quarter Century Club, President of the Whitman Bowling League and President of the Retirees of Western Club. Jacob is a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, United States Air Force and a member of the Arlington American Legion Post 1302.
Mr. Ciancio is a graduate of Poughkeepsie HS, class of ’38. He was very active member of the class participating and planning several class reunions. He belonged to the Holy Trinity Church, Arlington, NY, Town of Poughkeepsie.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday April 22, 2018 from 2pm to 6pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday April 23, 2018 at St Stanislaus Church Pleasant Valley New York 12568. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Putnam, New York.
