Obituary of Roger E. Simons

Roger E. Simons, Sr., 94, a 71 year Poughkeepsie resident died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Ferncliff Residential Center in Rhinebeck, NY.  Mr. Simons was born in Beekman, NY on November 18, 1923 to the late Murtland and the late Katherine Edwards Simons.  He served our nation in the Air force from 1939-1945.  Before that, and right after, he worked for the railroad until 1946.  He then worked at Mid Hudson Psychiatric Center from 1946 until his retirement in 1983 as a policeman/fireman.  Throughout his life he loved to hunt fish and work on cars.  Mr. Simons is survived by two sons, Roger E. Simons, Jr., of Newburgh and Tony W. Simons of Poughkeepsie, his five daughters, Glenda Flowers, Stephanie Roberts and Christine Sparrow of Poughkeepsie, Roxanna Cave of Maybrook and Deborah Parkinson of  Downingtown, PA.  Also surviving are his 24 grandchildren and over 10 great-grandchildren.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Timothy P.
