Obituary of Kenneth Rhodes

Kenneth A. Rhodes, 81, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Pines of Poughkeepsie.  Born on April 9, 1937 in Bayshore, NY he was the son of the late Warner and the late Marguerite Cappe Powell.  He was a local resident from 1965 and previously of California.  Ken had served in the US Navy from 1956-1958 and 1961-1965.  On June 27, 1964 he married Patricia Clancy at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley and she predeceased him on May 16, 2008.  Ken was very entrenched in the community, worked as a Sales Associate for Sears for many years, then later worked at Dutchess Golf Club once he “retired.”  Golf was a particular passion as well as traveling, especially to Ireland. Family was very important to Ken, he loved life, his tremendous circle of friends and Happy Hour. He was a life member of the VFW5913, as well as a life member of Croft Corners Fire House of which he was past president.  Ken is survived by his children; daughter and son-in-law Debra and Curt Alitz of West Point, NY and son and daughter-in-law Michael and Andrea Rhodes of Tivoli, NY.  Also surviving are his grandchildren Brian Vincent (wife Harriet), Ashley Waite (husband John) and Emma Alitz, and his great-grandchildren Sequoia, Iris and Hazel Waite and Martha Lucy and Eliza Vincent.  In addition to his wife Patricia, Ken was predeceased by his brother Warner "Dusty" Rhodes and sister Jeanne Adele Powell.  Calling hours with a Firematic Service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 4-8pm at the Timothy P.
