Obituary of John "Jack" Joseph O'Sullivan

Beloved father and husband, John (Jack) Joseph O'Sullivan, passed away on Wednesday 27 June 2018 surrounded by people who loved him. He was born on 4 April 1938 in Tacony Philadelphia Pennsylvania, son of the late Florenz James O'Sullivan and Bridget Mary O'Connor from Killarney County Kerry Ireland. Jack attended Northeast Catholic High School and Drexel University, graduating with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He had a long prosperous career having worked for General Electric Aerospace, Chicopee, Princeton University and lastly IBM. He served his country as an enlisted Airman with the United States Air Force.

Jack was a man of few words who judged silently. He was a purveyor of fine and not so fine spirits, and a skilled boxer who never left a mark. But alas, for those who know and love him, he will be forever remembered for his Catholic faith, his beloved mother Bridget, his best friends Joey and Gail, his many special friends from Philly, Volleyball, Keg Parties, Campfires, his friend's acoustic music, cultural loops, classical music, tolerance of animals and his love of all things Irish.

Jack was preceded by his son John Michael and sister Betty, survived by his wife Sandy, brother Jerry and wife Eileen, children Michele (Mike), Robin (David), Kerry (Tom), Terri (Stan), Lorri (Mike), Bart, grandchildren Breanne, Emma, Abby, Danielle, Alex, Carly, Anthony, Alexsi, Samantha, Sadie, Corrine, sister in laws Gail Francis and Laura Lee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will be received from 11:00 to 12:00 Saturday 7 July 2018 at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Avenue Poughkeepsie NY with memorial service commencing at 12:00. Everyone is welcome to partake in a toast of Irish Whiskey and share experiences, stories or memories in his honor. A celebratory event with live Irish music and vespers will follow at the home he loved. In lieu of flowers, please contribute in Jack's name to Shriners Hospital  (donate.lovetotherescue.org).

Jack was a gentleman and class act whose generosity will never be forgotten. In the words of one of his favorite artists Frank Sinatra "I would like to be remembered as a man who had a wonderful time living life. A man who had good friends, fine family - and I don't think I could ask for anything more than that."
