Obituary of Richard C. Schwabedissen

Richard C. Schwabedissen, 73, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  Richard was a local resident since 1978 and previously of Mt. Kisco and Bronx, NY.  Born on July 31, 1944, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Gretta (Lippl) Schwabedissen.  Richard served in the United States Army from 1964-1966 in the division of the Helicopter Bite and Strike Unit.  On January 11, 1975 he married Jean E. Nolan in Smithtown Long Island and she survives him at home.  Richard had worked as a lineman for Verizon for 32 years, retiring in 2002.  He was an avid Yankee, Rangers and Giants fan.  He enjoyed traveling, photography and listening to Do Wop music.  In addition to his wife, Jean, Richard is survived by his children; Richard K. Schwabedissen of Carmel, NY, Kathleen (Thomas) J. Burke of Poughkeepsie, Karen E. Dalrymple of Burwick, PA, Nancy A. Schwabedissen of Poughkeepsie and Scott P. Schwabedissen of Poughkeepsie.  Also surviving are his grandchildren; Christopher M. Haines, Lauryn Dalrymple, Kate Dalrymple, Matthew Dalrymple, Kristen Dalrymple and Ella McIsaac, as well as his sister Carol Ann Fontana and son-in-law Brice Dalrymple.  Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P.
