Obituary of Richard Germiller
Richard J. Germiller 84 of the Town of Lagrange died at home Sunday July 15, 2018.
Richard was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on September 11, 1933; he was the son of the late Joseph W. and the late Mary Meyer Germiller.
Richard was a local resident all of his life, he was a graduate of Arlington High School Class of 1951, and he attended Siena College and was a graduate of PACE University.
On April 4, 2004 he married Beth J. Van Fleet, she survives at home.
Richard was retired from the NYS DOT where he was an Engineer. After retirement Richard was a self employed land surveyor and was the past owner of Tra Tara Abstract.
Richard was a member of St. Martin dePorres Church; he was a life member of the Poughkeepsie ELKs #275 and a past member of the Pleasant Valley Rotary Club. He also helped organize the Pleasant Valley Youth Sport Association. Richard was inducted into the Dutchess County Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 and New York State Softball Hall of Fame in 2009. He was a Board Member of the Dutchess County Hall of Fame and past manager of the Poughkeepsie Brewers Softball Organization.
Richard loved to Golf, was an avid Baseball and Softball fan, he loved to cook and travel.
Richard is survived by his wife Beth at home, his children William R. Germiller and his wife Barbara of Raleigh, NC., Craig T. Germiller of Panama City Beach, Florida., Richard J. Germiller Jr. and his wife Karen of Juneau, Alaska., and Lynn M. Germiller and her husband John Slinn of Monroe, NY. Richard is survived by step daughters Tracy Adams, Tara Hoffman, Jackie McCaffery and Beth’s sons Nathan Van Fleet, Justin Van Fleet and Geoff Van Fleet. Richard is also survived by his two sisters Barbara Herles and her husband Tony, Monica Maher, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday July 19, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Friday July 20th at St. Martin dePorres Church Poughkeepsie. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Calvary Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York.
