Obituary of Antonia E. Pavlakis
Antonia "Toni Chamberas" Pavlakis, 98 died Sunday July 15, 2018. She was the wife of the late Constantine " Connie " J. Pavlakis, who predeceased her in 2002.
She was the daughter of Peter and Panagiota Chamberas who emigrated from Greece. She was the sister of Olga Polecrone, Thomas Chamberas, George Chamberas and Mary Chamberas all of whom predeceased her.
She leaves behind a loving family: her beloved son John C. Pavlakis DDS. and his fiancée Maria Martini. She was the beloved grandmother (Wawa) of three grandchildren Jeanne Pavlakis MD. and her fiancee Adam Rand, Johnnie C. Pavlakis DDS. and his girl friend Amy Lee and Jackson Pavlakis, all whom she adored and who adored her and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was born in Poughkeepsie and lived all of her life there. After graduating from Poughkeepsie High School, Toni attended the School of Design in New York City and then returned to work in sales at the Up to Date Dress Store. She also joined the family business, Kustas and Chamberas Candy and Tobacco for a time.
She was a member of the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church of Poughkeepsie and was active in the church women's clubs Philoptochos and the Daughter of Penelope. He parents were among the founders of the Church.
Toni was known for her fashionable and glamorous attire. Going to her weekly hairdresser appointments was a must. She loved parties, especially with her family and with the boat people, where she was known for her wit and wonderful laugh. She loved being with the young people of any age. She looked forward to her weekly nights out with her friends and laughing buddies, Evelyn, Barbara and Doris. But most of all she loved her family and proud of her son and three grandchildren.
She was truly loved by not only her family but all those who came in contact with her. She was known for being stylish down to earth, truly caring, her laugh was contagious and her zest for life was second to none.
Calling hours will be held Friday July 20, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603 with the Trisagion Prayer Service being held at 5pm. Funeral Services will be held 10am Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church Poughkeepsie, New York with burial to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
