Obituary of Ronald H. Price

Ronald H. Price 87 of Lagrange, New York died Monday August 27, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Ron was born in Fishkill, New York on August 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Homer and the late Harriett Schmidt Price.

On April 26, 1951 Ronald married Genevieve A. Pietrowski, she predeceased him on September 8,  2006.  They shared their life of 50 years together in LaGrange raising their four children, enjoying the everyday life of parenthood and work.

Ron was of graduate of the Wappingers School District. He was also a Veteran of the United States serving in the United States Army. He was transferred from Fort Lee, Va. to West Point as a instructor in maintenance equipment, he was discharged in 1953.

Ron worked for the Arborio Company in Poughkeepsie for over 20 years driving the earthmoving steel machines.  In 1957 he opened the Ronald H. Price Construction Company and then in 1979 incorporated the business becoming Ronald H. Price and Sons Excavating, which he managed until retiring in 2013. He strived for success by helping  others by following his passion of fixing what was broken..Good Neighbor Sam..was the name he earned.  He was a fair man. He always called it as he saw it.

Ron was a local resident all of his life, he was a Associate member of Lagrange Station #3, a member of St Martin dePorres Church and a member of the NRA.

Ron  loved to fish and hunt, he was a avid Yankees Fan and liked NASCAR. As the Golden Years approached he enjoyed many of the races on TV.  He  also enjoyed the many culinary pleasures and sometimes adventures, of many of restaurants in  Dutchess, Ulster and Orange County. His wonderful ability of telling a story of 40 or 50 years ago...was a joy to listen to.

Ron is survived by his four children Sandra Auchmoody and her husband Jeff of Ijamsville Maryland, Rhonda Barresi and her husband Dennis of Stuart, Florida, Ron Price of Lagrange, NY and Scott Price and his wife Debbie of Lagrange, NY, his companion Carol Rayve who shared so many memorable trips & caregiver,  and he also had seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ron was predeceased by his brother Homer Price.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday August 30, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday August 31, 2018 10am at St. Martin dePorres Church with Burial to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial donations in Ronald's name be made to the LaGrange Station #3, 21 Red Oaks Mill Road, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. We would like to also thank Dr. Thomas Robinson's office for their care and kindness during our fathers journey into the Golden Years!
