Obituary of Connie Caccoma

Connie Caccoma, of Poughkeepsie, passed away at home, in the loving care of her family on August 30, 2018 at the age of 103. She was born July 8, 1915 in Taormina, Sicily. She was the daughter of Frances and Salvatore Platania. On April 4, 1938 Connie married Frank Caccoma who predeceased her on September 29, 1969. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her sister, Rose and her brother, Anthony.

Connie is survived by her five loving children and their spouses. George Caccoma and his wife MaryAnn, Sandra Asaro and her husband Anthony, Frances Daniels and her husband John, Norma Washburn and her husband Richard, and Frank Caccoma and his wife Elaine. Connie was also survived by nine grandchildren, Allison Caccoma, Kristen Noto, Christopher Asaro, Stefani Marchigiano, Alessandra Battisti, Adrian Daniels, Christian Daniels, Olivia Caccoma and Alex Caccoma. She was also blessed with ten great grandchildren.

In addition to raising five children, she had many talents. She was an extraordinary seamstress, exceptional cook, she loved to garden, dabble in art, knit and make quilts for her family. After raising her children she put her cooking skills to work at Collegeview Restaurant on Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie,  which she and her husband successfully owned and operated for many years. Connie also looked forward to spending her winters in Jupiter, Florida.

In accordance with Connie’s wishes there will be a private service for the immediate family at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie. A Mass of Christian burial will be at Mount Carmel Church, Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. for anyone who wishes to attend. Entombment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery following the mass.

The family wishes to thank all of those who lovingly cared for Connie especially her aides from the Anytime Home Care and the amazing staff from Hudson Valley Hospice of Dutchess, both of Poughkeepsie.
