Obituary of Doris Riordan Grey
Doris Riordan Grey, 91 of Poughkeepsie passed away November 21, 2018 at home. She was one of five sisters and was born in Poughkeepsie on March 5, 1927, the daughter of the late Marguerite and Norman Meddaugh. She worked for many years at Fargo Manufacturing and later retired from Vassar College. She loved to read, play cards and do puzzles. For many years she traveled with her second husband Fred with Club 60. She enjoyed traveling and all of the new experiences. Doris also played cards every Tuesday at the senior center and Fridays with her sister Millie at her apartment.
Doris was a very spiritual woman whose family was her passion. The thing that brought her the greatest joy was seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She did not have any easy life but always knew that God was there to guide her.
Doris was predeceased by her first husband Raymond Riordan and her second husband Fred Grey. Five sons also predeceased her, Michael, Stephen, Theodore, Wayne and Gary. She was also predeceased by two of her precious grandchildren, Michelle Riordan and Dustin Riordan. Three sisters also predeceased her, Rene Walker, Eleanor Hawley and Mildred Baker.
Doris is survived by her three sons Raymond (Chuck) Riordan, Ronald Riordan (wife Pamela) and Richard Riordan (wife Jeannie). She has many grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, Ray, Michael, Mark, Katie, Jacqueline, Austin, TJ, Alissa, Brandon and many great grandchildren who will all miss her dearly. She is also survived by her dear sister Phyllis Croshier formerly of Poughkeepsie and now residing in Florida.
Per Doris's wishes there will be no calling hours and burial will be at the family's convenience. A celebration of her life for family and friends will take place at a later date. She gave to many charities over the years. Please, if you wish in her memory, just remember to care about other people the way she did all her life. She is truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
