Obituary of Ernest T. Sciame

Ernest T. "Ernie" Sciame, 91 of Pleasant Valley, NY passed peacefully into heaven on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Ernie was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 9, 1927 the son of the late Charles and Florence O'Brien Sciame. He was raised in Brooklyn, NY until his enlistment at age 17 into the US Navy where he proudly served in World War II on destroyers and minesweepers. Shortly after the war and his honorable discharge, Ernest met and married his beloved Rose Breunig on March 22, 1955 in Long Island. They welcomed their daughter Barbara the following year. The family moved to Poughkeepsie and made their home in the Town of LaGrange.

Ernie learned the skills of professional painting and wallpapering and eventually set out to own and operate Overlook Painting Co. until his retirement. Ernie's hobbies were to work around his home and especially enjoyed dancing and socializing with his wife and their friends at the Germania Singing Society.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Ernie is survived by his son-in-law Bruce Morse, his sister-in-law Veronika Fuegleia, his niece Rose and his nephew Hugo. The family wishes to thank the caring nurses and staff at the Lutheran Care Center and especially the compassionate doctors and nurses particularly  Gina and Leah at Vassar Brothers Medical Center ICU.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial 10am Monday December 17, 2018 at St. Mary's Church 231 Church Street Poughkeepsie New York 12601. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
