Obituary of Eduardo Vona

 Eddie, the patriarch of the Vona family passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  The son of Sebastiano and Rosa he was born September 18th in Moschiano, Italy just outside of Naples.  He was a tireless worker who could always be found helping family and friends.  He eloped with Maria Dalia on May 17th, 1954.  Together they raised four daughters; Rosa, Carmela, Maddalena and Silvana along with two sons; Sebastiano and Salvatore.  He is predeceased by a baby daughter who was awaiting his arrival at the pearly gates.
Working his farmland of olives, chestnuts and hazelnuts in Moschiano was backbreaking work so he sought a better life for his family in America in 1973.  His children are eternally grateful for his sacrifices and prudent decision making.  A proud member of Local 1000 for many years he retired to pursue his love of gardening and mushroom foraging.  Our gardens will continue to prosper because of his sage advice.
His spirit is carried on by his children, their loving spouses; Mario Graziano, Marino Carbone, Giovanni and Aniello Volino, Maria Mazzaccari-Vona and Kim Lopez-Vona.  Sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren plus extended family in Italy and Venezuela.  We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Nonno in his 86 years.  He will be greatly missed.
