Obituary of Tony Mirones

Tony Mirones, 91, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Quaker Hill Manor.  Born in Chios, Greece on December 6, 1927, he was the son of the late Stelious and the late Kyria Koula Mirones.  Previously of Mamaroneck, NY, he had been a local resident since 1979.  On September 15, 1963 Tony married Nitza Kourvaniou in Yonkers and she survives him at home.  Tony was a restaurant owner and cook for Lindys Diner and also worked as a manager for Four Brothers Restaurant in Rhinebeck.  Tony was a member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church and was a AHEPA member.  He liked to play cards and he loved the restaurant business.  In addition to his wife, Nitza, Tony is survived by his children; son, Stelious Mirones of Poughkeepsie, son George (Tamara) Mirones of Red Hook, NY, daughter Kathy Mirones and friend Corey Jones of Red Hook, NY and daughter Eirene (Nick) Buzzell of Brooklyn, NY.  Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren; Evan Siderias, Andonia Mirones, Antonia Buzzell and Elli Buzzell, as well as his brother Harry (Casia) Mirones of Valatie, NY.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.  The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10:00am at the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church and burial will follow in the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum.  If desired, the Family requests donations are made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Ste. 103, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.  For directions or to send online condolences, please visit our website at www.doylefuneralhome.com
