Obituary of Joseph F. Duffy

Joseph F. Duffy 86 a longtime resident of Hopewell Jct., NY died Wednesday January 16, 2019 at Vassar Brothers Hospital after a brief Illness.

Joe was born in Carbondale PA on March 25, 1932. He was predeceased by his parents Genevieve and Leo Duffy, his brother Leo Duffy Jr., and his sister Ann Marie Novobilski.

Joe has six children with his previous wife, Mary "Kate" Hannon, Christopher Duffy, Julie Cross, Jennifer Donovan, Terence Duffy and Jessica Logan. Joe also has 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Joe's second wife Linda Duffy died May 22, 1999.

Joe was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Jct. and he served in the United States Army.

Joe worked for the FBI and IBM and went on to work at Montross VA Hospital where he retired from.

Joe was a volunteer member of the Hopewell Jct. Fire Department and always enjoyed helping out on Bingo Nights. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1758.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the 7th floor at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for the wonderful and excellent care they gave to Joe.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. At 7:30pm during Calling hours there will be a prayer service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
