Obituary of Nancy L. Cooper
Nancy Cooper passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center due to a secondary infection from the Covid19 virus. She was 82 years old. Nancy was one of five children and grew up in Queens, New York. She worked as a special class paraprofessional for many years before retiring and moving to Poughkeepsie with her family.
In her free time, she loved to sit outside, swim with her grandchildren, cook Sunday dinners for the family, and take afternoon walks around the neighborhood. She also was excited to be an active member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church and would participate in numerous events throughout the years. Her favorite activities at the church were participating in Birthday Dessert and Piggy Bank. She loved visiting the nursery school classes and volunteering in the church office. In her free time, she would sew blankets and pillows for those in need.
Nancy was always the person who would say “yes” when anyone wanted to do something. Whether that be running to the store for groceries or taking bike rides up and down the driveway, she would always be ready to go. Her grandkids remember her as the person to always be waiting for them at the bus stop with snacks and hugs, no matter how old they got. She lives on through her passed down recipes, handmade crafts, and other countless memories. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
There will be a Celebration of Nancy’s life at a future date to be announced.
Due to the underlying circumstance, services at this time will be private and burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery.
