Just found out about Joe’s passing. I knew him many years ago in NYC. I am truly saddened. He helped me immensely and for that I will always be great full. Always wanted one more talk but it didn’t happen so I guess this posting will need to suffice. People matter in our lives and Joe certainly did. My condolences to Sylvia, we never met but I wish you all that is good. God speed Joe Ward.

Clearly Joe and I didn’t work together often but the times we did have had an amazing impact!! The world is a lesser place without him. My sympathies to all his family and dear friends.
Thanks for being so solid Joe, I sure could use your ear right now!!

I am so saddened to hear of Joe's passing. He was such a smart and kind man, always showed respect and motivated me to keep pursuing my dream of becoming a psychologist. My heart goes out to his family during this time of loss.

Joe’s smile says it all... He seemed to be able to add a little laughter to the moment. I really loved his banter and the Joy he brought to our family...He leaves a big hole.

A few days before he passed, I had visited with Sylvia and Joe. He looked good and had a smile on his face. I'm so glad I got to know him and that he became a part of our family. I liked listening to his stories and seeing the happiness between Joe and Sylvia. He was there for me when I was going through a difficult time and I will always be grateful for that.
You will be missed, Joe

I first met Joe 35 years ago. We shared many great conversations over the years. He loved to talk about the joy his children, and grand children gave him. We shared out mutual love, and frustration, over being Met fans. He loved gardening, and we traded my Tomatoes for his home made Pickles. I ate one today. I know my life is better because of our friendship, and I miss him already.

Joe was an amazing therapist. He was more like a friend and a mentor and he helped so many people over his life. The world has gone a little dimmer now that he is no longer in it and I wish there was more time to talk with him about kids, cooking, gardening, books and life. He was a wise and compassionate man. Remember that life is like a box of index cards. Each experience is written on a card and becomes a memory. When someone dies, we no longer add more cards, but that doesn’t stop us from opening the box and pulling out a card when we miss them and enjoy the memory. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and children.

My favorite memory of Joe is sharing stories of our kids. He not only smiled and grinned when he would tell stories of his daughters, but of my son and baseball too.. we would constantly banter back and forth about the Phillies and Mets and then we'd hug and say "I love you".
I am a better person for knowing Joe and if I can come close to being the man he was .. I'd be proud

Joe, I had not seen you since Grandpa's 100th birthday party but all your Georgia cousins missed you at every family gathering. I remember when you got out of the Navy and got a job selling shoes at the shopping center - Patty and I would walk to the shopping center and stop by to see you- we always thought you looked like Billy Joe Royal. So sorry that none of knew how sick you were. Gail is heartbroken - she said if the two of you didn't have anything else - you always had each other. She was a great big sister to you and will miss your phone calls. You have run your race and now it is time to rest. Susan - Richmond Hill Ga.

My sweetest memory is when I first met Joe. And imagine, it was on the patio sipping wine! I broke a wine glass. So I wouldn't feel bad, he did too. We broke a lot of wine glasses that night. And from that first time, I saw how much he loved Syl and she him. And that made me so happy. Miss you Joe and hugs and love to you, Syl.

My favorite memories of Joe, as my second father, are sitting on the back porch with a glass of wine, watching the swallows soar overhead, talking about his next book recommendation for me or his big plans for the garden.
I miss you, Joe. Love, your Sar-o Jane

and YOU took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
And you have made all the difference for me.
