Obituary of Marie T. Rizzo

Marie T. Rizzo, 91, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Cranford Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cranford, NJ. Due to COVID she was distant from her family but surrounded by our love and prayers in our hearts and minds. Marie was very loved as the matriarch of her family and will be missed immeasurably.

Marie was born on August 28, 1929 in Manhattan, NY to the late James and Antoninette Radice Massaro. She married Thomas A. Rizzo on November 11, 1951 in Manhattan, NY. Thomas passed away in 2002.  A local resident since 1964, Marie was previously from Long Island. She attended Krissler Business Institute and was a member of Holy Trinity Church. She loved playing cards, doing puzzles, and spending time with her grandkids and great grandchildren. 

Marie is survived by her daughters Maria and her husband Anthony Maranzano of Poughkeepsie, NY, Susan and her husband Paul Ollivett of Pleasant Valley, NY, son Robert Rizzo and his companion Phillis of Toms River, NJ as well as much loved nieces and nephews and their families. Marie is also survived by grandchildren Teresa Maranzano and her partner Sean Swehla, Christina and her husband Dan Olson, Matthew and his wife Stephanie Ollivett, Nicole Rizzo and her wife Kelly Chludzinski, Stephanie and her husband Joe Davis, and Adam Ollivett as well as five amazing great grandchildren Luke, Sadie, Alyssa, Brianna and Aubrey.

There are no calling hours. A private graveside Service will take place on Tuesday, January 26, at 12:00pm at St. Peters Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
