Obituary of Mary Ann Studley Vosburgh
MaryAnn Studley Vosburgh (91 years young) of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on February 21st after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
MaryAnn was born in Hempstead, NY, on January 18, 1930 to Anna E. Ivanhoe and Michael S. Timcher. The first in her family to attend college, “Timmy” received a scholarship to SUNY Geneseo where she met her first husband, James A. Studley, Jr., who predeceased her in 1978.
They moved to Poughkeepsie in 1963, where Mrs. Studley was a beloved teacher in the Arlington School District for 25 years. MaryAnn was proudest of teaching so many of her students to read. An avid reader, she also enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles.
She married Richard (Dick) G. Vosburgh in 1985. They enjoyed their retirement years traveling to their home in the Adirondacks in the summer months, and then wintering in Fort Pierce, FL for 20 years where MaryAnn played golf almost daily. She was very proud of her “hole-in-one”. She and Dick also enjoyed spending time with their many friends at the Elks Club in Poughkeepsie.
MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Richard Vosburgh, Poughkeepsie, her daughters, Sheryl Studley Ozuna, Sierra Vista, AZ, Susan Studley Marcy (Dennis), Red Hook, NY, her stepsons David Vosburgh (Terri), Poughquag, NY, Mark Vosburgh (Mary Canfield), Hyde Park, NY, her daughter-in-law Jackie Vosburgh, Poughkeepsie, NY. Her stepson, James Vosburgh predeceased her. MaryAnn was the beloved Nana to Lauren, Jay (Maggie), David (Theresa), Amanda (Kyle), and Paige (Adam) Vosburgh and her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Evan, Skylar, Mason and Emma. Her stepbrother, Richard Spuhler (Maureen), and her half-sister, Michael Lynn Scott, predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 28th from 1-4 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie with a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for their compassionate care during MaryAnn’s final weeks. In honor of MaryAnn’s passion for reading, donations to Ulster Literacy Association, 480 Aaron Ct, Kingston, NY 12401 (www.ulsterliteracy.org) are encouraged.
