Obituary of Theodoros M. Koliopoulos
It is with great sadness that the family of Theodoros (Teddy) M. Koliopoulos, of Wappingers Falls, NY, announce his passing on March 6, 2021 at the age of 74.
Born on January 28, 1947 in Episkopi, Greece, he was the son of Mihail and Eleni Koliopoulos. After serving in the Greek army, Teddy immigrated to the United States in 1969 and made his home in the Poughkeepsie, NY area. Teddy married Alexandra Moulopoulos in Pelagos, Greece on September 21, 1975. He was a dedicated and diligent restaurant worker, serving as a line cook at Alex’s Restaurant, I-84 Diner, and the Double O Grill throughout his life until he retired in 2010. Teddy was a loving, caring man who always went above and beyond for all people, especially his family and friends. He was athletic, having competed in cycling, soccer, and horse riding when he was younger, and continuing his passion for soccer throughout his life. He was also a proud member of Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church of Poughkeepsie as well as the Order of AHEPA.
Teddy is survived by his wife Alexandra; son and daughter-in-law, Mihail and Christina Koliopoulos, of Wappingers Falls, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Petros and Mimi Koliopoulos, of Wappingers Falls, NY; grandson Theodoros P Koliopoulos; brother, Dimitrios M Koliopoulos; sister, Georgia Kapogiannis; mother-in-law Theodora Moulopoulos; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Panagiotis and Georgia Sarantopoulos, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Panagiotis and Panagiota Trachanas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Georgios and Adamandia Moulopoulos; and numerous beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, and godchildren. Teddy was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Nick Kapogiannis.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10 from 5-8 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 10am at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, 140 S. Grand Ave., Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
