Obituary of Eleanor L MacIsaac
Eleanor (Meeker) MacIsaac, 90, of Poughkeepsie, NY, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021
while residing at Wingate at Dutchess in Fishkill NY. Eleanor was born August 25, 1930 in Wappingers
Falls, NY to the late Clyde L. and Ruth (Hait) Meeker. She graduated from Wappingers High School and
worked as a dental assistant. In high school she met her future husband while attending rival football
games with Arlington High School. She married Martin MacIsaac (deceased) on March 13, 1951 in
Kileen, Texas and lived in Germany for a year while he served in the Army. Together, they raised their
four children in Poughkeepsie. Eleanor was the “heart of the home” to her family. She relished her
roles as Mom and Grandma, and was known to be a great cook and baker. Outside of the home, she
was an active member of the Arlington Reformed Church. Eleanor volunteered at Vassar Brothers
Hospital many years as a Floor Assistant and then went on to serve Hospice of Dutchess County. Eleanor
enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. She loved to travel and went on many excursions together with her
husband in their golden years.
Eleanor is survived by her four children; Wayne MacIsaac (Janet), Dawn Kostenko, Roger MacIsaac and
Cheryl MacIsaac. She is also survived by her grandchildren; David, Jeffrey, Russell, Bryon, Andrea, John,
Amy, Carey, Tyler and Adam, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, sister Carol Dibble, grandson Jason, great-granddaughter
Chelsea, and son-in-law John.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4-7pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home,
371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 13, 2021 in the Funeral
Home at 10:00am with Pastor Frank Gallo officiating. Burial will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery
Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eleanor’s name to the Arlington Reformed
