Obituary of Grace D. Goebel

Grace D. Goebel, 92, formerly of Poughkeepsie, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021 in St. George, South Carolina where she resided with her daughter and husband for the last three years.  Both her daughters were lovingly at her side when she reached out to the good Lord. 

Grace was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on September 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George F. and the late Gertrude Vrooman Rogers.

On April 21, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie Grace married Albert E Goebel, he predeceased Grace on January 17, 2007.

Grace was a local resident most of her life. She was the Head Housekeeper at the Edison Motor Inn and was a Bookkeeper at the A&P before leaving to have a family. 

Grace loved to read and travel to the Casinos. Grace and Albert built their life around each other and they were always there for each other and their family.

Grace is survived by her two daughters, Sherry L. Peery and her husband Wallace of St. George, SC., Susan D. St. Germain of Poughkeepsie, NY., her grandchildren Christopher Hart and his wife Stephanie and Robert E. St. Germain, her three brothers David, Ronald and Stanley and several nieces and nephews. She was just months away of meeting her first great grandchild, Maximus Carter Hart due to arrive in October. 

Grace was predeceased by her sisters Mildred Whispel, Gertrude Stevenski and brothers Herbert, Clifford, Frederick, Wilber and Charles.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday May 25, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York. Funeral Services will be 10am Wednesday May 26, 2021 at the Funeral Home with burial at the Clove Valley Cemetery.
