Obituary of Lucille J. Surico

Lucille J. Surico of Pleasant Valley died at home on August 11, 2021, at the age of 95. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 10, 1925, to the late Lucy and Emil Herbst.  Lucille spent summers at her Aunt and Uncle’s farm in Pleasant Valley, and decided to stay after high school graduation. She worked in Poughkeepsie and there she met Frank Surico. Lucille and Frank married in 1949 and settled in Pleasant Valley. She was predeceased by her husband Frank and brother John.

Lucille was proud of her home and had many talents: cooking and baking, sewing, Scout leader, gardening, oil painting and many crafts. She was a member of the Home Bureau group “The Merry Mixups” in Pleasant Valley. Lucille had a big heart for all animals, from her beloved dog and numerous cats to the animals on the farm and most recently, the chipmunks that she loved to feed daily. Lucille was also most happy when the family was together for holidays and the many trips they enjoyed in the family motorhome, and later spending time with her grandsons.

Lucille is survived by her beloved children: son David and daughter Judy (husband Richard) and grandson Leland, as well as her sister-in-law Ann and her husband Lester in Ohio, and nieces and nephews.
