Vera
I am sorry to hear of Steve's passing. You and your family are in my prayers. I remember how he graciously served at Reach Out. I did not know that he worked at Western Printing and Nabisco. My father did as well. May you experience God's comfort at this time.

Dear Vera, Andy and Mike,
Our sincere condolences from the Martynek family. I have many fond memories of Steve and still remember vividly the first soccer practice when we were kids on the upper field at Oakwood. He was a great man and will be missed but we are all blessed to have known him.

Dear Vera, Andy and Michael. our deepest condolences on the loss of a wonderful husband and father.
He was a giant of a man who impressed everyone who ever met him or was coached by him. I had the honor of being his assistant coach of the travel team and have many memories of the games and victories. His coaching, and life skills have molded many players into wonderful men.
I golfed many times with Steve at McCann and he loved the game almost as much as soccer. He would call me almost every two weeks to discuss soccer, golf and of course..... his Lord.
We will miss him dearly.

Dear Vera, Andy, and Mike,
I have so many fond memories of Steve. He taught us the mechanics of the game, but he also taught us strategy, special plays for specific situations, sportsmanship, and even how to act off the field. I loved how when someone would walk into the gym for practice and not say hello to him and Mr Segi, or Mr Madden, he would send them out to try again. That still makes me laugh. I loved the meals that he cooked for us and specifically remember pushing back from the table with a belly full of Hungarian goulash as he continued to offer more. And I will never forget how comfortable his house slippers were to wear, a coveted prize to be the first to discover them when he wasn’t home. I am so fortunate to have known the kindness, generosity, and friendship from Steve and your entire family. I will miss him greatly.

Steve was such a warm and kind man. I always appreciated talking with him and Vera when they attended Faith Assembly. I was greatly impressed with all his exploits, especially escaping from Yugoslavia. He had such strong resolve.

Dear Vera, Andy and Mike,
Our deepest heartfelt sympathy on the passing of your loving husband and devoted father. We have such fond memories of the dedicated, effective and sensitive coaching that Steve provided for all the boys on the Town of Poughkeepsie Travel Team. He coached them to numerous victories from a very early age to teenage years. His experience, skill and thoughtfulness were key to all the victories the team enjoyed. He was patient, kind and always willing to spend time to help each and every team member develop their soccer skills. Skills that helped many to continue to compete at the college level and beyond. He truly made a difference in his life by all he gave to others. May he eternally rest in peace.
Stephen, Joanne and Brian Hempe
