Obituary of Geraldine M. Simmons

Geraldine M. Simmons 92 of Hyde Park passed away at home on September 9, 2021 surround by her family.

Geraldine was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on April 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rosa Lunnen Dembicki.

Geraldine was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.

Geraldine worked at Western Printing in Poughkeepsie and also at IBM where she retired in 1992.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie and Geraldine loved to garden, fish and bowl.

On May 27, 1946 at the Washington Street Methodist Church Geraldine married Philip D. Simmons, he predeceased her on March 30, 2014

Geraldine is  survived by her children Philip D. Simmons Jr. and his wife Penny of Philmont, NY., Constance L. Pennisi and her husband Joseph of Hyde Park, NY., Diane E. Smith and her husband Wesley of Clinton Hollow, NY., Audrey F. Keller and her husband Eric of Pleasant Valley, NY., her six grandchildren Philip D. Simmons III, Ann Marie Pennisi, Sandra Pennisi, Andrew Simmons, Ria Schultz, Samantha Keller, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, her sister Frances Petroccitto of Hyde Park, NY. And her brother Harry Dembicki Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Geraldine was predeceased by her two brother and one sister Michael Dembicki, Harold Dembicki and Kathleen Murasso.

Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday September 14, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.

Graveside services will be held 11am on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York.

Memorial donations can be made in Geraldine’s name to Hudson Valley Hospice or to the American Heart Association.
