John Mario Monturo, 60, of Cedar Hill, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 7th from complications of cancer. Born September 8, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Thomas and Cecilia Monturo, John earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from Spackenkill High School in 1978. He went on to earn his Bachelors from SUNY Brockport and his Masters degree from Texas A&M-Commerce. He later was an Associate Professor at Paris Junior College in Greenville, TX.

John was married for 23 years to Juanita Monturo of Cedar Hill. They attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville. John was also a new member of the Knights of Columbus in Cedar Hill.

His gregarious nature and dry wit were well known by family and friends. John loved playing guitar and drums and cherished his extensive vinyl record collection. John became the family genealogist tracing the family lineage and connecting with relatives across the world. John loved teaching people new things and was recently teaching his wife how to swim.

John is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Monturo. He is survived by his wife Juanita; stepdaughter Laura Redman; mother, Cecilia Monturo; brother Paul (Jessica) Monturo; sisters, Toni Marie Monturo, Ann Jordan, and Helen Martino. He is “Uncle John” to 6 nieces and 5 nephews.

Calling Hours will be held from 6pm to 8pm Thursday September 16, 2021 at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York. Funeral Services will be held 9:45am Friday September 17, 2021 at St. Martin Deporres Church, Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
