Obituary of Hazel Perry
Hazel H. Perry, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, passed peacefully at the age of 99 on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at home with loving family. Hazel was born on June 23, 1922 to Frank and Helena Mosher. She was one of six siblings, Bobby (Robert), Frank Jr., Charles, Catherine and Florence. All of whom predeceased her. On December 16, 1945, Hazel married the love of her life James S. Perry at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, while he was home on leave, serving in WWII. Together they had three children, James, Bernadette and Joseph. Mr. Perry predeceased her on December 13, 2015. She was a devout parishioner at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She spent countless hours volunteering at the parish office and was a fixture working their events and festivals for many years. Hazel was also a member of St. Anne’s Society. She participated in the Orange County Senior Olympic Games for a number of years. Her life’s joy was caring for her family. She is survived by her loving daughter and incredible caregiver Bernadette H. Perry of Wappingers Falls; a son James D. Perry and wife Carol of Hyde Park; Daughter-in-Law Rochelle Perry of Poughkeepsie; Grandson Michael J. Clark and Wife Laura of Wappingers; Granddaughter Danielle Perry and partner Daniel Arthur of Wappingers and three Great Grandchildren; Owen J., Carli A. and Giana J. Clark. She also delighted in frequent visits from her great-grand-pups. Her family would also like to acknowledge the loving care of her aide, Norma. In addition to her parents, siblings and husband, she was also predeceased by her son Joseph V. Perry. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021, 10:00am - 12:00pm. Service to immediately follow with subsequent burial at Calgary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hudson Valley Hospice.
