It is difficult to put into words how extraordinary a human being you were; someone I always respected for unsurpassed excellence in law enforcement and for the humility and compassion to always respond to text messaging even when busy doing ten other things. Your messages continue to inspire and I cannot imagine Dutchess County or anywhere around here without you. I will light a candle, plant a tree, make a donation and everything else but above all I will always see you as the shining example of what we all strive to be as members of one human race. Rest in eternal peace.

"Call me Butch." This is what Sheriff Anderson said to me during our first official meeting. You are welcomed here, and I will work with you as we both do what's best for our departments, and the county. I found "Butch" to be a man of his word, and I trusted him. It wasn't blind trust, but trust nonetheless. His death is a significant lost to the law enforcement profession and to the public he served. I will miss him.
A good man is at rest. Blessings to his family,

To our friend, before Butch became the Mayor of Pawling, NY or the Sheriff Department of Dutchess County, he was just Butch to us who grew up with him and his family, he was fun and memories of him will go with us forever. He was the friend we all wanted and as he grew he became the "father" that many kids did not have, he followed them through there lives and they knew if he needed them he would be there, for them. But he loved his Sheriff family as well, and he helped those who were behind the scenes, to keep them on the straight and narrow. We will miss him. I will miss him, my friend who I know that even at work if I had a problem, or wanted clarification he was always there to help me. Danielle, the wife and mom that we are so happy that he found we always wondered when he would find that special woman and in you he did, he loved you all with his whole being and he
will be with you always. May God Bless you and your children and know that God has a new Angel in Heaven and his name is Butch Anderson. I will love you and miss you my friend!!

To the Anderson Family,
My deepest sympathy and love go out to you all during your time of tremendous grief. I have very fond memories of Butch. He was like a family member to myself and my brother, David. He went to school with many of our family members. Butch was always there to give us advice or to tell us funny stories about the things he did with my family when he was young.
Butch will be deeply missed by all of us who knew him, the real Butch Anderson.
May God watch over all of you from now on as you mourn the loss of one terrific man.
