Obituary of Barbara Joan “B.J.” Rotella

Barbara Joan "B.J” Rotella, 80 of Poughkeepsie, NY entered into rest on Saturday Oct. 9th 2021 surrounded by loved ones at Trinitas Regional Medical Center In Elizabeth, N.J.

Born on February 11, 1941, she was a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY. She was the daughter of the late Roy O. and Louise Bocchino Beneway.

Anyone who knew Barbara would tell you she was a hardworking, selfless woman, dedicated to her family.

A local resident all her life, Barbara graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1959. Barbara worked for Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union for over 50 years where she retired from.

For most people retirement means relaxing at home but not for Barbara, she went on to work for Walmart in Fishkill for another 17 years. Barbara loved to work and when she was working you could find her spending time with her family or doing one of many hobbies including cake decorating which she enjoyed. Barbara was also a member of Holy Trinity Church.

Survivors include her companion of many years Sylvio Triano of Poughkeepsie, NY. Her two daughters whom she adored,  Karen. L Rotella Lewis (Anthony Bocchino the 4th) of Ulster Park, NY, Sheri Lynn Rotella of Copake, NY, 5 granddaughters, Jean Marie Lewis of Ulster Park, NY, Monique Porter of Claverack, NY, Shannon Thompson of Miami, Florida, Angela Bocchino Scolberg of Ulster Park, NY, and Laylah Thompson of Miami, Florida, 3 grandsons Lamaar Porter of Poughkeepsie NY, Anthony Bocchino the 4th of Ulster Park NY, and Duane Thompson of Copake NY and 6 great grandsons Lamaar Porter, Jr., Joshua Daley, Carter J. Porter, Carmine Porter, Thomas Meade and Isaac Acevedo. Barbara is predeceased by her brothers Roy O. Beneway, Jr. and Kevin B. Beneway.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Funeral Home at 1:30pm. Burial is to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
