Obituary of Patricia A. Maine

Patricia A. Maine, 75, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Westchester Medical Center from a rare blood disorder. Born on July 21, 1946 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of the late J Robert and Patricia Norris Palmer.  She was a local resident since 1968 and previously lived in Denver, CO.  Patricia graduated from Cathedral high school and earned her bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Colorado State University Fort Collins.  On June 17, 1978 she married William H. Maine in Saint Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls.  Patricia had worked as a Program Manager for IBM in Poughkeepsie and Kingston, retiring in January, 2007 after 39 years.  She was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church and the Mid-Hudson Food and Wine Society, and served as the director of the IBM Club and president of the DC Bridge Association.  She was a dedicated mother illustrated by her many hours spent as a Girl Scout leader, a stage manager for Estelle & Alfonso dance studio, and her nickname “Momma Maine”.  Patricia showed her love of the arts as president of the Mid-Hudson Ballet Company, and her compassion for others as an End of Life vigilant at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.  She enjoyed family, bridge, travel, cooking and lots of shopping.  She touched the lives of many people with her infectious joy, never-ending encouragement and quick wit. 

In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by Rebecca Maclauchlan (Chris), daughter and son-in-law, Amanda Maine, daughter, both of Richmond, VA.   Also surviving are brothers John, Brian, Greg (Patti) and Mark (Christy) Palmer, sister Micki Brann, grandchildren Avery and Stella Maclauchlan, her nephew Alex Kekauoha, sister-in-law Joan Palmer and many nieces and nephews.  Patricia was predeceased by her brothers Tom and Chris Palmer and her sister Mary Jo Kekauoha.  

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 9:30am at St. Martin de Porres Church.  Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
