Jeffrey Pells

Obituary of Jeffrey Scott Pells

Jeffrey Scott Francis Pells, 63, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on January 23, 2022 at Westchester Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born at St. Francis Hospital on January 19, 1959, he was the son of Bruce and Mary Jane Pells.

Jeff graduated from Arlington High School in 1977.  After graduation he worked for Eastern Offset Printing Company. He then obtained his dream job at Arlington Fire Department, where he worked for 34 years. He was passionate about being a Firefighter and loved what he did for a living. After obtaining his Paramedic certification, he worked for Alamo Ambulance for many years. Jeff obtained his Associate Degree of Science in Business Management from Ashworth College in 2006.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 37 years, Michelle. They were married on July 14, 1984 after 4 years of dating. He also leaves behind three beautiful daughters; Chelsea and her husband Thomas of Windham, NH, Cassandra and her husband Jordan of Union Vale, and Alexandra and her husband Garrett of Lagrange. He is also survived by his sisters; Pat Magurno of Poughkeepsie and Kathy Pells of Pleasant Valley, his brother; Garry Pells of Weirsdale, FL, his sister-in-laws; Theresa Odekirk & Patricia Davis of Syracuse, NY and Mother-in-law; Doris Glusenkamp of Poughkeepsie, NY, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins; especially Joseph, Kristen and Daryl Magurno.  But most of all, he loved his five grandchildren with all his heart; Brooklyn, Adalynn, Maci, Hudson and Camryn and his best friend, his dog Chloe.

Jeff is predeceased by his loving parents, his two brothers; Mark & Bruce Pells, his Grandfather William Case, his Grandmother Marjorie Miller, his Aunt Joann and Uncle Allen Morris and his Father-in-law Ronald Glusenkamp.

Jeff was an avid sports fan who loved the Yankees. He was always very involved in his three daughters' sports teams, especially softball. He served on the board for Town of Poughkeepsie Softball League and was a coach for Challenge Fastpitch Softball for many years. After several years of dedicated coaching, he became a girls softball umpire with Hudson Valley Softball Umpires Assoc., which he thoroughly enjoyed.

In addition to sports, he loved traveling with his family and especially after retirement, with his wife Michelle. They enjoyed many trips in their RV, which brought back great memories of camping with his young family. His favorite vacation spot was Long Beach Island, NJ where his family visited annually since 1992. Jeff never went in the water when it was cold, but when it was warm, he'd jump in the waves and body surf with his kids, he would take many walks on the beach and play in the sand with his grandchildren. Jeff enjoyed several years on the water with family and friends in his boat. He loved to bring all the kids tubing and water skiing, mainly on Lake George.  Michelle and Jeff spent 4 winters traveling throughout Florida visiting many beaches; snorkeling, swimming and making endless memories.

Jeff was loved by so many and was a true family man, putting his wife and girls above all. He will be missed by so many but his memory will live on.
